Another Christmas in the Books!

Onward to 2022!

I know that everyone’s Christmas is different. My wife has a friend that closes out Halloween by putting up Christmas decorations. This means that her Christmas holiday starts November 1st and has been going on for roughly two months. This individual is not outside the norm, given Christmas holiday decorations started littering the store shelves as early as October.

Some people live and die by the Christmas holiday. Dedicated Christmas radio stations begin popping up in early November, and there is no looking back. One radio station in Spokane, Oregon, started playing Christmas music 24/7 starting October 30th. Thanksgiving is just a blip on the calendar as it seems to be full steam ahead for Christmas.

My family, for one, was quick to pull down the decorations on the 26th. We visited a few of our friends yesterday, and they performed the Christmas clean-up the night of the 25th. Was this early? Yes, but they are still settling into their new house. I know this breaks from the Christian tradition, which states January 5th/6th are the proper days to take down the decorations. This adheres to the typical 12 days of Christmas or the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6th. Call it Christmas fatigue, but we were done!

I view our Christmas tree removal as one less hindrance my Roomba has to traverse in its effort to keep our house dirt-free. Now we can return to normal as we prepare for the New Year. Just think, only ten more months until the next Christmas season!
