The world of aviation and cargo transport just got a lot more interesting. California-based startup Pyka has developed a cargo-carrying version of their Pelican autonomous aircraft billed as the world’s largest autonomous electric cargo airplane. This new invention has the potential to revolutionize the way goods are transported across the globe, so let’s take a closer look at what makes this new aircraft so special.

How It Works The Pelican Cargo is a 100% electric aircraft with an impressive wingspan of 38 feet and a range of up to 200 miles on one charge — which means it can cover some serious ground, even with a maximum cargo load of 400 lbs.

The average cruising speed is expected to be 80 to 90 knots (92 to 103mph). The 50 kWh battery is hot-swappable and fully rechargeable in 60 minutes.

The zero-carbon emissions aircraft is powered by four motors with a combined 100kW of power running the two fixed-pitch props to the front and back of each wing.

The aircraft is controlled by an advanced autopilot system, which means it can fly autonomously without any pilot input. Instead, all you need to do is enter your desired destination, and the Pelican will do all the work for you!

The Pelican Cargo also features advanced sensors that allow it to avoid obstacles in its flight path and adjust its trajectory if needed. This ensures that no matter where you’re flying, you can rest assured that your cargo will reach its destination safely and securely. Finally, Pyka has also designed their plane with an open architecture platform so users can customize it however they’d like — making it perfect for commercial and military applications.

Safety is the ultimate concern with autonomous vehicles like this. For this reason, Pyka has a fully redundant system for propulsion, controls, and sensors. As an added measure, a backup parachute system is a welcome addition.

Impact on Cargo Transport This revolutionary new technology can reduce transportation costs while drastically increasing efficiency. By eliminating the need for human pilots, companies could save millions in salaries while ensuring their shipments arrive on time every time. Additionally, because this aircraft doesn’t require fuel or other hazardous materials, it’s much safer than traditional planes — making it ideal for transporting sensitive goods such as medical supplies or food products over long distances. Finally, this technology could be used for more than just cargo transport; by equipping drones with these autonomous capabilities, search, and rescue operations could also become much more efficient!

Conclusion: Pyka’s autonomous electric cargo airplane is truly a revolutionary invention that could have far-reaching implications for how we transport goods worldwide in the near future. With its impressive range and advanced safety features, this aircraft promises to make shipping faster and more efficient than ever before — not to mention significantly cheaper too! So get ready for takeoff; thanks to Pyka’s innovative new design, long-distance cargo transport is about to take off in a big way!
